Sequoia National Park and Kings Canyon National Park
These two parks are adjacent to each other and only about 50 miles from Yosemite. It's a really beautiful spot in central California near the Nevada border. I went there the day after I went to Yosemite.
Here I am in front of the General Sherman. You can see its base behind me. They say it's the largest tree in the world, in fact the largest living thing in the world. It's 274 feet tall and 102 feet around at its base. They believe it's about 2,300 years old, which means it would have been alive on the night a star guided those shepards to Bethlehem. That's a pretty amazing thing to contemplate.
Same tree, looking up.
I'm sure the reason this sign causes stress is obvious without elaboration.
Wanted to give you guys an idea of how large these trees are compared to these cars parked nearby. Notce you can't see the top of the tree. It's really all but impossible to take a picture of an entire tree.
Here's Kings Canyon with the beautiful (gray) Sierra Nevada mountains in the background. That was an awesome drive. See the road I took down there?
I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure that's a tarantula.
